Tonight my program took a walking tour of Madrid. It was really cool. We went to some places that I've already been to and know about, like the Palacio Real, Puerta del Sol, and Plaza Mayor, but we also went to a lot of spots that I didn't know about! Plus our guide was super knowledgeable and told us a lot of interesting history and fun stories. I've been making a list of things to do in Madrid, and I feel like it's twice as long after this tour.
Here's some pictures. I was mostly paying attention and taking notes, so it's a little lackluster. We saw way more than this. This is the view walking to the Palacio Real.
The Palacio Real :) Towards the end of my IUHPFL program in high school we took a tour of the palace. I remember it being so beautiful, like it was from a fairy tale. I will be returning in the future.
View from behind the Palacio Real.
Still the view from behind the Palacio Real.
The original wall in Madrid from when the Madrid was founded in 850 (the guide said this is "very young as far as European capitals go").
Saw a cool bookstore, so you know it's going on the blog.
