Yesterday I went to the Senate! My program has an event or activity about every other Wednesday, and this was today's. The Senate was really cool! We were only there for an hour, but we had a really good tour guide and good vibes.
Here is us outside the Senate.
Here is modern-day chamber, where they meet now.
Here is the old historic chamber.
Featuring President Ben. I asked what his first law was and he said, "Every day is Sunday and Mondays are illegal." Not too bad. Then we all joked about President James Garfield and Garfield the cat.
Here is the hallway. Cool vibes.
After that we went to a room that had four paintings in it.
This painting is by Francisco Pradilla y Ortiz, who has a really famous painting in El Prado called "Doña Juana la Loca." The tour guide said that the Prado has asked for this painting too, but they won't give it to them.
We've been learning a lot about Spanish history in every single one of my Reunidas classes, and I feel like a lot of it hasn't been sticking (so far all the kings are Carloses and Fernandos and it's hard to keep track of who's who) but the tour guide started to explain this history and I remembered the whole historical context, which was exciting for me.
Here are pictures from the last stop on our tour, the library. This was the best part by a million. I looove the vibes.
We got a pocket constitution at the end of the tour. My mermaid princess homies know I love a pocket constitution.
After the Senate a bunch of us were hungry and had class later that afternoon and needed something to do in the meantime, so we went to a brunch place. Me, Carson, Jason, Larissa, Bernadette, Lauren, Jesse.
I got eggs benedict (the kind was called El Grace--just throwing that in since it's my middle name), and Larissa got the french toast, and then we did halfsies. Both were really good.
Then Larissa and I shared a slice of carrot cake because we were still hungry. It was so good.
Then those of us who had to go to El Prado for class hung around until it was time to go in. Here's two pictures of two birds on a branch I took outside of El Prado. I thought they were cute.
BeReal in El Prado after class. Alondra, Elsa, Carson, Jason, me, Larissa, Jisenia, Addie.
The Senate bldg. is amazing and, like you, I love the library. Such a cool place!
Pic creds!!
