I took this picture on Friday on the way to school. Pretties.

Omg this Telsa taxi was driving crazy, swerving everywhere in front of our bus. It almost hit out bus! The police got them. It's illegal to take pictures of the police in Spain so no one tell.

After class I went to lunch at a Chinese restaurant with Larissa and Jason. Jason got this drink with this girl on it, slaying.

Forgot to take a picture of the spring rolls before I devoured them.

Here's Jason with the food he was unable to finish. I took this picture to show Addie, because on Monday when we got Mexican food Addie and I both finished our burritos no problem, and Jason had a little left, and now it's becoming a joke that Addie and especially me are just garbage disposals. Today I cleared everything vegetarian and would've kept going and helped him out, but there was meat in all the food left. Larissa also didn't finish her food. Can't keep up.

We passed this church after the restaurant.

After lunch, we went to the post office. The guy who helped me was also super nice and very talkative!!! It also kinda made my day. After the post office, Jason and I made our way to the box office to try to score last minute tickets (Carson had class). We stopped walking at 4PM to try to buy the tickets online and we did it!!! And so did Carson! It was so exciting. My adrenaline was going crazy. No pictures of this event except for this meme I made on the metro because I was so excited and everyone else was just having a normal day.

I had this mango before the opera and it was sooo good. I got so lucky. Mangos are not in season but my frutería had them, and for just €1.50, and it was perfect. I was blessed today all around fr.

Going to the opera! The Teatro Real is right by the metro, which is why this station is called Ópera.

Our seats were so good! As my meme said they're €300 regular price but since we got them day of they were only €30, and since we're youths we got another €10 off. Major key alert (once you can figure out how their system works).

Took this picture during halftime.

Opera gang.

Drip check. Carson's rocking with the Land's End and Jason's mom told him to throw away his shoes before he did the program and he didn't listen.

The opera was sooo good. Sooooooo good. It was Aida by Verdi. It was probably the best opera I've been to so far. The first one (weird modern French one in Madrid) was so different from the other two that it's a little bit apples to oranges though. And the second one (L'elisir d'amore in Vienna, traditional Italian comedy opera) was a totally different vibe from this one too (traditional Italian drama opera), and I loved all of them for different reasons, but the production value on this was just unbelievable. The theatre was huge, the stage was giant, the sets were crazy, the stage design and tech was insane, there were like 100 people in the cast, their costumes were so beautiful, their voices were so impressive. It was all stunning. I was talking to Jason about it and I was like, "Not that I'm saying paying €300 for a ticket is reasonable, but I do see where some of that money is going."

Fun fact I saw my English family after the opera. I knew they were going too. We're gonna talk about it on Tuesday for sure.

Thank you to Ryan for texting me and reminding me to add pictures of the program to the blog. Here's the synopsis (spoilers!) and a picture of one of the leads.

This picture is making the opera look so UGLY I promise it was breathtaking in real life. As per usual I cannot capture the beauty of anything at all here. This is particularly bad though.

Also (spoiler fr) but the opera ends with Radamès and Aida getting sealed in tomb together and dying. They sang a whole long song about it. I didn't know the plot of the opera going in. So for the first third/half of the song I was like "Okay yeah, have your moment, you're buried alive, that's a bummer, but let's keep it pushing. Let's be proactive about the situation. Growth mindset. How are we going to get out of this tomb." And then the song went on for too long and I realized that was the end and I had to sit there and be mad about it for the rest of the song. I get why it was the end, it was fitting, very opera, very dramatic, but I still thought it was silly. If I were Aida I would not have snuck in that tomb to die, respectfully.
