I took the artistic tour of the opera today! (There's three tours they do: the general one, which I've done, the artistic one, and the technical one, which I have to do still.) It was sooo much fun and so cool. I was the only person on my tour and the tour guide was an 80 year old woman named Hortensia (en inglés, Hydrangea). I was like "Omg that's my mom's favorite flower!" (I actually don't know if that's true, but for sure top three right Mom? I know you like tulips too.) I love Hortensia. She was so nice and so cool and we had such a good time just hanging out and going around the theatre. She's lived such a cool life and had so many stories. And since it was just her and me, and we were besties, she kept saying, "Well we're not really supposed to go here, but since it's just us, come on." And she pretended to get lost a couple times so we could go places. And then one time she tried to get lost but accidentally went the right way and she said, "No estamos perdidas? Qué aburrimiento." ("We're not lost? How boring.") I saw like every part of the theatre. I didn't really take any pictures because that wasn't the vibe but here's this map of the seating arrangement from when the opera reopened in the 1990s. But I also saw the costume department (the seamstresses, the wig department, the shoe department), all the rehearsal spaces, the dressing rooms, the backstage, etc etc etc. This was one of the coolest experiences I've had in Madrid for sure.

Hortensia took me on the balcony at the end of the tour. She had her 80th birthday party here because she's real like that.

After the tour (which lasted like twice as long as it was supposed to because again me and Hortensia are tight) I walked around. I still haven't been to the cathedral, and not that it's a big priority to me (obviously since it's been nine months), but it's right to the opera, so I stopped by, but the line was so long y para mi no hace falta. So then I walked to a palace nearby that is more of a priority for me, but there was also a long line and again no vale la pena.

I did stop in this garden by the Palacio Real and it was pretty.

In the metro on the way home.

I went chef mode when I got back.

Then Alana and I watched the first episode of Queen Charlotte.

Rose's parents are in town, so then we went to get drinks with them. Rose and I split this passionfruit mojito.
