Today I had my second day of classes! They were the same as yesterday. I went to the El Prado class again even though I'm not taking it. I would have felt bad not showing up on the second day because yesterday the TAs who do the Prado visits for the class came to introduce themselves, and mine (Roberto <3) recognized me from last semester. So then the teacher like had me singled out and she was like, "Oh you're taking this class again? Then you must like it, that's so nice." It would've been too conspicuous if I didn't show up Day 2, it'll be way more subtle when I don't come next week (hopefully). Some buffer time in between. Also then I can be like "Oh I wanted to stay in it but it didn't fit in my schedule/there's other things I need to take." Anyway, this was a paragraph of me being scared to disappoint Roberto, even though he definitely doesn't know my name.
Then I had Ethnography. Same old same old. Then I had Andalusian Culture. Today was the first day of lecturing. It was really interesting. I think my mom would really like this class. Also it was really refreshing and nice to hear some of these topics (the history of Spain, Spanish identity, immigration, Islamophobia, etc.) treated with a lot of care and consideration. But this is not a blog post about the systemic problems in Spain. Just wanted to say it was pleasant.
Last class of the day was Phonetics/Phonology my beloved <3<3<3 The teacher is very energetic, and it was interesting to see his way of teaching compared to what I've been taught. So far all the vocab is the same though, which is a major key alert--I was afraid the terms would be different and I'd get them mixed up or not be able to remember the Spanish version.
Then the school day was over. Here's me and Larissa and Jisenia on the metro <3 Featuring my mood ring saying I'm lovable.
I taught English tonight. Beltrán didn't talk to me this week or last because he was busy studying</3 At this point I look forward to teaching English and love hanging out with them, it really just feels like we're besties.
Then I got home and booked a trip to Lisbon with my roommates. Still so insane that that is just something I can do. Truly unbelievable, doesn't feel real. But it does feel very exciting!!!
Then me and Jisenia and Alana went to the grocery store at 11PM. Time to BeReal. Someone called my tote bag in the grocery store "chulo," big W for me, I felt very cool. (Thank you for the chulo bag Claire.)
Then I made tacos.
