Today I took a guided tour of the opera house and I went to Disney on Ice! Very good day for me, obviously. It was also the day I stopped taking medicine after having a cold for two weeks. Lots of big moments.

The opera tour was sooo cool. This is something I've been meaning to do since last semester, and just never got around to it then. But now that the clock is ticking, I'm trying to really do these kinds of things. The first part of the opera tour was in the auditorium. We weren't allowed to take pictures there because there were workers onstage. We went in the royal box, which was cool. We learned about the history of the building/design. Then we went to parts of the opera house you can't just walk around to during a show. So new rooms unlocked.

There's a restaurant in the Teatro Real. I want to go eat there, obviously. This is the view from the restaurant.

Vibes.

This is a model of the opera house. It is so giant.

Map of the opera house.

This is one of the two chandeliers left from the opera's first era at the beginning of the 1900s. You can tell because the wires are on tthe outside.

Costumes from the first performance of Aida at the Teatro Real in the early 1900s. (I saw Aida at Teatro Real back in November, different costumes though.)

This is the Room of Mirrors.

This the reason it's the Room of Mirrors.

Me, Rose, Kayla, Lou.

After the tour we were starving so we went to lunch.

Our guide on the tour today that the Telefónica building can fit inside the Teatro Real.

We went to Honest Greens. I was so happy to see a vegetable. The cuisine here is not big on vegetables. I got a Mediterranean bowl and added brussel sprouts. I'm obsessed with brussel sprouts and I haven't been able to find any in any grocery stores. I was disappointed by the presence of just two, I thought that was pretty lame, but better than none.

After lunch I bought a scarf on the way home. Long story but last semester Larissa was wearing scarves all the time, and I didn't get it. I've never been a scarf person, I didn't want to haul around a giant piece of fabric just for it to be on two inches of my neck. I almost bought a scarf at this store we went to in like October/November because it was my favorite color and soft, but then I was like, "I don't wear scarves," so I didn't. But Larissa kinda planted that scarf seed. And then when I went to London/Budapest with my family over Christmas break, I borrowed my mom's scarf every day and I saw the light. I took it back to Madrid with me and I've been wearing it every day. I've been thinking about that scarf I passed on and I went back to that store to see if it was there, and it was, for €5. Major win, had to share with the blog. Then it was immediately time to get ready for Disney on Ice!

Larissa, Rose, me, my new scarf, Jisenia, Alana.

I sound insane in all these videos, but I think they're funny and we keep it real on the blog, so you're welcome (sick Moana reference) everyone. I love Disney on Ice.

Beauty and the Beast.

In Spanish, Cogsworth is named "Dingdong." I was talking to Beltrán about Disney on Ice and I told him that in English "dingdong" is what you call someone who's being silly, like that's what my mom calls me when I'm acting like a dummy, and Beltrán loooved that fun fact.

This is crazy.

This too.

Toy Story. This pig was taking me out. It was so funny. The rest of Toy Story flopped; this pig carried. The pig can be for Ryan.

Moana. Slayed. These are all for the Dombrowskis.

Coco. Jisenia's favorite.

Liam and Dad--how much to do that?

Aladdin. The Spanish version of "Friend Like Me" is "Un Genio Genial," and the song goes, "No hay un genio tan genial." I really like the play on words going on there.

The LItle Mermaid.

Claire the screen on this one reminded me of that Little Mermaid puzzle we did. The little vine... I was like "I know her."

Frozen.

These guys were insane.

My queen. Dad, this is what "she's eating" means. She ate.

They brought out Rapunzel and Flynn and I was sooo excited and then they didn't do a Tangled segment. So mean.

Mine and Larissa's top three were Frozen, Moana, and Little Mermaid. Jisenia's and Rose's were Coco, Beauty and the Beast, and Frozen. Alana's were Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, the Little Mermaid.

After Disney on Ice we went to eat in Sol. Here's the Oso y el Madroño, which is the symbol of Madrid. This statue was blocked by construction last semester. There's still construction going on, but nowhere near as much.
