After school I went to this bagel place Kayla told me about with my roommates. It was so good. The food was so good, the place was so cute, and the employee was sooo nice.

My one complaint is the same one I have every time I get a smoothie in this country--why is this as big as two Dixie cups. It was good, it just should've been ten times the size. That's on me for expecting something different though, I set myself up for disappointment.

We chilled there until this palace opened. Jisenia and I went together. It've had it on my list to go to forever; it's the Liria Palace, home of the Duchy of Alba. It was really cool! No pictures allowed, so you'll just have to believe me when I say it's sooo pretty. Everyone give it a Google search actually.

They make you do an audioguided tour, where they shepherd you from room to room and play informational recordings about the palace. Sometimes I want to go to a palace and just vibe in the pretty rooms, but it was actually really cool to learn about what I was seeing. And not to post my assassination coordinates or whatever, but my street is named after the Duque de Alba, so it was interesting to hear what's up with these guys.

The palace is pretty new, which is why it was so beautiful. Well, it's old, but then it was super damaged in a fire and then pretty much redone. The staircase we went up was crazyyy. (I can't think of a good word for like the staircase room we were in. Like the staircase was its own room/space. This does not fit my schema of a "foyer" but maybe that's the closest word? I don't like it though, that's not it. Whatever.) The staircase room reminded me of the Vienna Opera House. At the top of this staircase they had art all around the hallways, with a statue from first century AC (is that the right way to format that date, I'm seriously losing it with my English, can someone advise) as the centerpiece. They had old (like 1400s, 1500s) tapestries in all the rooms, plus paintings by Rubens, Titian, Velázquez, El Greco, Ribera, Bronzino, Rafael, and Goya, and others. One of my favorites was a Magdalena penitente by Andrea Vaccaro. It looks lamer online, in person her expression is more impactful.

My favorite room was the last one--the library. Not only were the vibes awesome, but they had some super cool documents on display. I made a list:

  • Account of people who voyaged with Columbus, 1498

  • Sketch of Hispañola by Columbus, 1492

  • Coat of arms for Santiago, Chile, 1498 (This seems early but this is what I wrote that the plaque said... maybe I typed wrong. At any rate, old.)

  • Letters from the Reyes Católicos

  • Letters from Columbus

  • Cortés giving someone an encomienda

  • Letter from Jean-Jacques Rousseau to the Duque de Alba, 1772

  • Portrait, lock of hair, autograph, and coat of arms of Prince Charles Edward Stuart (Bonnie Prince Charlie), 1754

  • Letter from Felipe V

  • Letter from Titian to the Duque de Alba asking if his payment for two paintings had been lost, 1573

  • Letter from Maximilian I HRE, 1507

  • Letter from Elizabeth I to the Duque de Alba, 1568

  • Letter from Henry VII, 1495

  • Letter from Alfonso X (El Sabio), 1262

A lot of these are for sure yikes (encomienda I am looking at you). But still really cool sorry to say. And these were just the ones where I recognized the names. They also had some cool dictionaries.

I got this cross-stitch at the gift shop. Women love a project.

I went home and did laundry, went to the grocery store, took a shower, and made dinner in the span of two hours. Women can do anything. Then I went to karaoke with my friends. I took this picture of this cool church on the way.

Jisenia and Rose took this cool picture on the way.

Rosalía!

Took this picture for my mom. (Mermaid Princesses check the song I had on deck.)

Here's Zack killing it.

Here's me and Rose doing Love is an Open Door. (I kinda felt like I was cheating on Jack for this, pls forgive me bae.) I also did Jolene with Zack (another Jack and Elizabeth classic honestly). I did Amor Prohibido with Jisenia. I kinda forget everything else, I black out at karaoke.

They had this selfie machine in the lobby of the karaoke place. We took a million pictures/boomerangs. There are more, these are just the ones I emailed to myself.

After karaoke we went to get bucket ahh margaritas.

Me and Rose shared a frutos rojos one. She was going to just get her own but she knew I needed to split with someone, and everyone else already had their split partners, and so she took pity on me and shared with me. Thanks for that my liege.
